We are a Local Ecumenical Partnership of the Baptist Union, the Church of England, the Methodist Church and the United Reformed Church; in associate partnership with the Roman Catholic Church.

We welcome you to worship at 10.30am in the Community Centre. Junior Church provides Bible teaching and activities for children of all ages. On 2nd Sundays we celebrate communion using the pattern of one of our partner churches. 4th Sundays are All-age Family Worship.

Special Notices 

Office Holders 2009 – the list of posts filled by church members is on the Notice Table. Please can everyone carefully considering if they could volunteer for any of the vacant positions. If you wish to resign from a post that you currently hold please tell either Jacqui King or Rev Mike Shrubsole.


Election of Church Council Members – Church members are invited to consider who amongst the membership has the right spiritual and pastoral leadership to help steer us forward into the coming years. Council members are elected to stand for 3 years up to a maximum of 2 terms. We have 5 vacancies and nomination slips are available on the Notice Table or from the Church Secretary, Jacqui King. All nominations are to be received by either Rev Mike Shrubsole or Jacqui King before commencement of worship on Sunday 29 March 2009Voting will take place at the AGM on Monday 30 March 09.


Lent Lunches – will be held at the Baptist Church, Coggeshall Road, Braintree, starting Wednesday 25 February through to and including Wednesday 8 April. They are served between 11.45am and 1.15pm. Adults �2.20 & children �1. All proceeds shared between Braintree Street Pastors and Essex Air Ambulance.


Lent Course 2009 - Talking About ... Jesus – this five-session Lent course (Thurs evenings at 7.30pm from 5th March to 2nd April) is based on a Damaris DVD & focusses on the communication of the Christian message through engagement with, and use of, contemporary popular culture - film, TV, books, public issues etc. Their material is always up-to-date and stimulating. All welcome. Sign-up lists will be available in church on Sundays, or contact either of the two Mikes. Course Leader: Mike Shrubsole (Tel: 564880). Host: Mike Higby (Tel: 331180). Women�s World Day of Prayer on Friday 6 March – this annual service on the first Friday in March is observed by Christian women all round the world. On this day, we share in prayer together and each year the service is planned by a different country. �In Christ there are many members yet one body� - a service prepared by the women of Papua New Guinea.

Come and get your picture in the paper! – Essex Chronicle Great Notley Village Photograph 2pm on Saturday 7 March. Meet outside the Notley Green Community Centre. We want as many people as possible to gather and show the smiling community face of Great Notley to the wider world. It will only take about 15 minutes of your time.


Choir Members Wanted! – The Darkest Hour by Harold Moor � a Choral Worship at Christ Church, Coggeshall 6.30pm on Sunday 29 March. Rehearsals from now on will be 10.30am � 12noon on Saturdays at Christ Church, Coggeshall OR Wednesday evenings at St Peters in the Fields, Bocking. This is a �scratch� choir rehearsing for a one-off special occasion. All welcome. Contact: David Felstead. Tel: 564902


Braintree Area Churches Together - Fifth Sunday United Worship – next gathering 6.30pm on Sunday 29 March at the Cornerstone Church, Black Notley. These services have grown in popularity and liveliness. Now usually attended by up to 150 people. Come and see what you are missing!


Methodist Circuit Missions Supper – The Rev George Mawire from Zimbabwe will be the speaker at Moulsham Lodge Church on Wednesday 3 June 2009 at 7pm. The menu will be a Ploughman�s plus desert and costs �3.50.


Methodist Circuit/Trinity Training Event – Subject: Pastoral Care. To be held at the Cathedral Chapter House, Chelmsford, on Wednesday 13 May at 7.30pm. Linda Newman, Sylvia Humm and members of the Chaplaincy Team will be taking part.


Stewards Training Day for the Circuit – �It�s more than counting the collection�. Find out what is really expected of Church Stewards. Leader: John Downer from Benfleet. At Trinity Church, Chelmsford, on Saturday 10 October from 9.15am to 4pm, those attending to bring their own lunch, maximum of 20 persons. In our ecumenical church, our Church Council members are expected to carry out the functions of Methodist Stewards.


"The Cross in my Pocket" – this beautiful poem is published in the new newsletter. You may be interested to know that Violet has for some years been crafting a small cross and a copy of this poem which come in their own small carry case - perfect to carry in your pocket! We have put some at the back of church if you would like one. We are suggesting a minimum donation of �1, all of which goes to the church building fund. They make a lovely gift, too.
